Ο Δρ. Ιωάννης Τσάκαλος είναι αναπληρωτής καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Λογιστικής και Χρηματοοικονομικής του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας.
Είναι κάτοχος πτυχίου Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων (2003) από το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, μεταπτυχιακού διπλώματος ειδίκευσης στη Ναυτιλία, τις Μεταφορές και το Διεθνές Εμπόριο (2004), μεταπτυχιακού διπλώματος ειδίκευσης στη Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων – ΜΒΑ (2006), και Διδακτορικού Διπλώματος στη Χρηματοοικονομική (2012), από τη Σχολή Επιστημών της Διοίκησης του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου. Ακόμη, κατέχει μεταδιδακτορικό τίτλο στη Χρηματοοικονομική των Επιχειρήσεων (2021) από το Τμήμα Οικονομικών Επιστημών του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών.
Εργάζεται στο Τμήμα Λογιστικής και Χρηματοοικονομικής του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας από το 2020. Επίσης, είναι μέλος ΣΕΠ στο Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και έχει συνεργαστεί με το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, το Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών, το Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο κ.α.
Το διδακτικό του έργο αφορά τη χρηματοοικονομική, την τραπεζική, τη ναυτιλιακή χρηματοοικονομική και τη διαχείριση κινδύνου, ενώ τα κύρια ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα επικεντρώνονται στη διαχείριση κινδύνου, τις συγχωνεύσεις και τις εξαγορές, την ενέργεια, τη ναυτιλιακή χρηματοοικονομική, την τραπεζική διοίκηση, τη νομισματική πολιτική, καθώς και χρηματοοικονομικές εφαρμογές νευρωνικών δικτύων, μηχανικής μάθησης κ.α.
Ακόμη, διαθέτει σημαντική επαγγελματική εμπειρία στο χώρο της Ενέργειας και της Ναυτιλίας, εστιάζοντας στη διαχείριση κινδύνου, και έχει διατελέσει σύμβουλος σε θέματα ανάλυσης πιστώσεων. Έχει παρουσιάσει το ερευνητικό του έργο σε διεθνή επιστημονικά συνέδρια και έχει δημοσιεύσει τις εργασίες του σε διεθνή ακαδημαϊκά περιοδικά όπως Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, Managerial Finance, Journal of Economic Integration, International Journal of Financial Engineering and Risk Management, International Journal of Financial Markets and Derivatives κ.α.. Curriculum Vitae Ioannis Tsakalos
Dr. Ioannis Tsakalos is an Associate Professor at the University of Thessaly (Department of Accounting and Finance).
He graduated in Business Administration (2003) from the University of the Aegean, earned an MSc in Shipping, Trade and Transport (2004), an MBA (2005) and a PhD in Finance (2012) from the University of the Aegean (Business School). He also holds a PostDoc Research in Corporate Finance from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Department of Economic Studies).
He joined University of Thessaly in 2020. He is also an adjunct lecturer of Finance at the Open University of Cyprus, while he’s also cooperating with the University of the Aegean (Business School), the National and Kapodistrian University, Hellenic Open University (School of Social Sciences, MSc in Banking) etc.
His teaching portfolio ranges among finance, banking, shipping finance and risk management, while his main research interests lie in the fields of risk management, mergers and acquisitions, energy, shipping finance, bank management, monetary policy, as well as financial applications neural networks, machine learning etc.
Also, he has extensive professional experience in Energy and Shipping industries, focusing in risk management and credit analysis. Furthermore, he has presented his research projects in international conferences, and he has published his research studies in international scientific journals such as Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, Managerial Finance, Journal of Economic Integration, International Journal of Financial Engineering and Risk Management, International Journal of Financial Markets and Derivatives etc..
